"A juicy tidbit that you may
be interested in and you are the first to know, I have decided
to sell Supervan and if you people would like to make the announcement
to your readers they can have first crack at it. The price will
be fixed at around the $90,000.00 u.s dollar mark or we may take
it to auction in Los Angeles, depends on the
response. Cheers, David Grainger"

this part of North America for a long time |

Supervan circa 1978-1979
Speed Television
FEBRUARY 19 - Host Dan
Woods is introduced to all project vehicles and the teams of
technicians that will be rebuilding and customizing them. The
CCR challenge vehicle, a 1986 Ranger, rolls out of the junk yard
and into the lives of Team Danger. George
Barris Supervan
gets a slow start with trouble getting into the shop. The 1970s
Chevelle is dug up and pulled out of an old barn. A flashy appearance
is made by the 2002 Subaru with work to be done under the hood.
Customizing plans begin to unfold on Chop Cut Rebuild
CCR Television.
Here is George Barris'
Supervan going back many years at an ISCA show in either Montreal
or Ottawa Canada around 1978, this was one of the most popular
vans of all time appearing in at least two movies Supervan and
Back to the Future. The van originally came out as the Love Machine,
then was renamed for the 1977 movie "Supervan". It
was originally an early Dodge van (pre 69, not sure what year
but will get this info). It was built in the early 70's.
It is presently being restored at The Guild of Automotive Restorers in Bradford
Ontario Canada , this restoration will be taped for the Classic
Car Restoration television show on Speedvision and the Speed
Channel. I will be passing by the Guild in October to check up
on the progress, the restoration began in May 2003 and the program
will start airing in February 2004. I will be going to see the
restoration in October while in Toronto, I hope to have a picture
or two of the restored Supervan up in October.
